medical projects

At the heart of Daughters of Azaadi is our commitment to rescuing, caring for, and empowering vulnerable girls, giving them the opportunity to build lives of freedom, dignity, and hope. Learn more about our process here.

Extending this mission of compassion, our surgical camps bring life-changing medical care to underserved women, girls, and children whose treatable conditions have left them suffering, marginalized, or deprived of opportunity.

Through the gift of medicine, we seek to restore not only health, but also dignity, freedom, and hope.

In any nation, women and children are most negatively impacted by poverty and sickness. Around 42 million Indians suffer from thyroid-related disorders, and women make up 60% of those affected. Goiters, or growths in the thyroid gland due to iodine deficiency, are very common in rural villages.

By hosting medical camps throughout the region, we are able to provide medicine and surgeries over the course of 7 days. In that time, our doctors and nurses are able to perform surgeries on approximately 70-100 high-need patients. Each surgery costs $250 to perform.

Medical projects, while important and meaningful in their own right, are complementary initiatives that support our broader commitment to the wellbeing of women and girls.
